I’m at that stage in my life where I take my looks seriously.
In fact, I’ve decided to take my personal branding seriously by doing lifestyle vlogs, OOTD (outfit of the day) videos, and the GRWM (get ready with me) ones.
They’re so fun!
I love watching GRWM videos because I look forward to seeing the final look of the content creator.
So now that I’m taking my looks more seriously than before, I’ve come to realize accessories can either make or break your entire look.
They can elevate a simple outfit or completely destroy an expensive one.

5 Accessories That Cheapen Your Entire Outfit
1. Multiple Logos and Designer Knockoffs

Maybe you’re finally coming into wealth.
You’ve worked hard, and God has blessed the work of your hands, and you can finally afford the designer stuff you’ve always wanted.
Happy for you, but sis, take it easy because if your bag, belt, and sunglasses are all screaming GUCCI, LOUIS VUITTON, CHANEL in giant logos, you look like you’re trying too hard.
We know you can afford the things you didn’t grow up with, but when every single thing you’re wearing has a visible logo, it doesn’t look expensive; it looks like you’re desperate for people to know you can afford designer items.
And speaking of fakes, those knockoff designer bags from the market…. 😔
Everyone can tell.
I promise you, everyone knows.
The quality is different, stitching is off, the logo is meh, and the hardware looks cheap.
I’m not saying you can’t wear designer pieces or that logos are always bad, but when your entire outfit is a logo showcase, it’s too much.
If you’re going to wear designer, invest in one real piece with subtle or no branding.
A quality leather bag with no logos looks more expensive than a fake one covered in them.
Remember, quality over labels always.
2. Cheap Jewelry That Turns Your Skin Green
I recently started my e-commerce site where I sell jewelry, and before I buy any jewelry, I read the component it’s made of.
In the past, I just bought whatever looked shiny and beautiful, but now that I know better, I don’t just buy anything that glitters.
Now I understand literally the proverbial ”not all that glitters is gold.”
I stay away from jewellery made from alloy, copper, nickel, metal, and titanium, no matter how cute they look, and now go for real gold, stainless steel, mossainaite, and sterling silver.
The funny thing is, they’re not as expensive as I’d feared; you just have to look out for them.
Instead of buying tons of cheap jewelry because I wanted variety, I now invest in fewer, better-quality pieces that won’t turn my skin green or break after a few wears.
Quality beats quantity every single time.
3. Giant Statement Jewelry

There’s nothing wrong with chunky statement necklaces, but the problem is when they overpower your entire outfit.
Massive beaded necklaces, earrings that look like chandeliers, and stacked bracelets that jangle loudly every time you move….
These statement jewelry pieces have their place, but when there’s too much of it, it looks cheap and costume-y instead of stylish.
If your jewelry is louder than your personality, it’s too much.
One statement piece per outfit is the rule.
If you’re wearing bold earrings, keep the necklace simple or skip it entirely.
And if you have a statement necklace, wear simple studs.
When everything is competing for attention, it doesn’t look good.
4. Worn-Out Shoes or Dirty Shoes
I’m appalled by the number of dirty shoes I see on women who are otherwise well-dressed.
Beautiful outfit, nice makeup, hair done perfectly, and then you look down and their shoes are filthy, and they’re walking around like it is acceptable.
It is not, sis.
Your shoes can ruin your entire outfit faster than anything else because no matter how expensive your outfit is, if your shoes look terrible, you look terrible.
So, take care of your shoes, clean them regularly, polish leather shoes when they need it, and replace them when they’re beyond repair, not when they literally fall off your feet.
And make sure your shoes fit the occasion.
You can’t wear beat-up sneakers with a nice dress and expect to look put together, or wear casual sandals to a professional event and wonder why people don’t take you seriously.
You don’t need twenty pairs of shoes.
You only need a few good pairs in versatile colors that you can maintain.
That’s the secret to not looking cheap from the ground up.
5. Too Many Accessories at Once

Simplicity is elegance.
Less is always more when it comes to accessories.
Earrings, necklace, bracelet, rings on multiple fingers, scarf, belt, hat, statement bag….
Come on, sis. 🙄
Wearing every accessory you own all at once makes you look cluttered, not stylish.
More is not better when it comes to accessories.
In fact, too many accessories make you look like you don’t know how to edit yourself.
The key to looking polished is knowing when to stop.
Pick two or three accessories max and call it done, but not all of it at once.
When you edit your accessories down to just the right pieces, each one gets to shine instead of competing for attention, and that’s how you look classy, baby.
