People With Common Sense Never Say These 9 Things

Common sense is not common.

I’m sure you have heard that before.

Because if it were, some statements would never leave people’s mouths. Ever.

Yet every day, we hear grown adults confidently say things that instantly tell you they don’t have common sense.

People with common sense don’t say everything that pops into their heads.

They think and process.

They consider consequences, understanding that words are not just sounds; they are mirrors of mindset.

So if you’ve ever heard someone say any of the things on this list and felt your brain quietly sigh…

Congratulations.

You have common sense.

People With Common Sense Never Say These 9 Things

1. “That’s just how I am. I can’t change.”

There is only one person who cannot and will never change, and that person is dead.

Everyone else is changing daily, growing, unlearning, relearning, adjusting.

So when a living, breathing adult looks you in the eye and says, “I can’t change,” what they’re really saying is, “I don’t want to.”

Because change is uncomfortable and requires effort and humility.

And some people would rather protect their ego than improve their character.

People with common sense understand that growth is part of life.

You don’t stay the same and still expect better results.

That’s not confidence; it’s stubbornness.

Imagine refusing to update your phone for ten years and then complaining that apps don’t work anymore.

That’s exactly how “that’s just how I am” sounds.

The truth is, the people who refuse to change usually expect everyone else to adjust around them.

They want understanding but refuse self-reflection.

Common sense is knowing that if you’re alive, you can change.

2. ”Everyone is jealous of me.”

Yes, some people are jealous.

Let’s not pretend jealousy doesn’t exist.

It does.

Human beings are human beings.

But when everyone around you is jealous, offended, threatened, or hating on you, then common sense should gently tap your shoulder and ask one important question: Could it possibly be you?

Every criticism is not envy.

Sometimes people are not jealous; they are tired.

Tired of your attitude and the drama that follows you everywhere like background music.

This statement is usually a defense mechanism because it’s easier to label people as jealous than to admit you’re difficult.

If one person has an issue with you, it could be jealousy.

If everybody has an issue with you, it’s time for self-reflection.

People who are truly secure don’t need to announce that everyone is jealous of them.

They’re too busy minding their business and growing.

3. “I don’t need advice. I already know what I’m doing.”

Said confidently by people who are clearly lost.

Common sense knows that advice is free wisdom, especially when it’s coming from someone who has been there, done that, and survived it, but pride hates help.

People without sense think listening makes them weak.

So they keep repeating the same mistakes with new confidence every time.

When life humbles them, they start asking, “Why is this happening to me?”

Because you refused to listen, my dear.

4. “Apologize for what? I didn’t do anything wrong.”

This sentence alone has ended friendships, marriages, and family relationships.

Apologizing is not always about being wrong; it’s about being considerate.

You can hurt someone unintentionally and still say sorry.

But people without sense treat apologies like court evidence.

“If I say sorry, I lose.”

So they’d rather defend their nonsense than preserve peace.

And they expect everyone to be cool with it.

5. “That won’t happen to me.”

Famous last words.

People with common sense understand that life humbles everybody eventually.

Nobody is immune to consequences.

People who snub common sense ignore warnings, red flags, and advice because they believe reality has exceptions for them.

It doesn’t.

Common sense plans ahead.

Lack of sense wings it, and then cries later.

6. “I’m always right.”

If someone says this unironically, just smile and protect your peace.

Nobody knows everything, even doctors consult other doctors, and lawyers seek second opinions.

But people without sense think being wrong is an insult to their entire bloodline.

So they argue facts, dismiss evidence, and fight logic, and still believe they’re the smartest in the room.

The loudest people are rarely the wisest.

7. “I don’t forgive people. I cut them off immediately.”

This one sounds powerful on social media, but plays out very badly in real life.

Forgiveness and boundaries are not enemies.

You can forgive and communicate and still create distance to protect yourself.

Lack of common sense is skipping communication entirely and jumping straight to disappearance.

Then they complain about loneliness.

People will hurt you, just as you’ll hurt others.

You can’t cut off everyone who hurts you.

Some things are forgivable and don’t end a relationship.

While some people will have to be loved from afar because you don’t trust them anymore.

Wisdom is knowing who to keep and who to let go.

8. “If they really love me, they’ll tolerate anything I do.”

Only God has unconditional love.

Human beings do not.

And anyone expecting divine-level patience from imperfect humans is setting themselves up for repeated heartbreak.

Love is not a license to misbehave.

Love comes with responsibility.

You don’t get to disrespect someone, neglect them, embarrass them, or constantly hurt them and then hide behind love like it’s a shield.

This mindset is usually held by people who want loyalty without accountability.

When someone keeps tolerating bad behaviour, it’s not always because they love you deeply.

Sometimes it’s because they’re tired, afraid, or hoping you’ll change.

And people eventually get tired of enduring what you refuse to fix.

9. “It’s not my fault. It’s never my fault.”

People with common sense take responsibility even when it’s uncomfortable.

They know growth begins where excuses end.

While people who have kissed common sense goodbye blame everybody — their parents, their ex, their boss, the economy, spiritual attacks, anybody except themselves.

And because they never take responsibility, they never change.

Same problems. Different days.

Common sense doesn’t mean you know everything.

It means you’re teachable, self-aware, and responsible enough to pause and ask, “Could I be wrong?”

People with common sense grow.

They listen, apologize, and adjust.

Common sense may not be common, but it’s still priceless.
